VisualSizer - Servo Motor Sizing Software

VisualSizer – Servo Motor Sizing App for Windows and the Web

VisualSizer - Servo Motor Sizing App for Windows and the WebAfter a few years of voluntary hiatus, we have decided to revive our VisualSizer Motor Sizing Software for Windows.

VisualSizer is a software application for Windows developed by Copperhill Technologies starting in 1993 and undergoing extensions and upgrading to newer technologies (e.g., MS-DOS to Windows) over the years. The app Is basically a motor database tool with added intelligence to support the user.

However, VisualSizer is not an ordinary database browsing tool where users enter criteria to create search result. VisualSizer lets the user create a mechanical setup (motion axis) that includes the motor and other mechanical devices such as gearboxes, linear actuators, and more. Furthermore, users define a motion profile (speed over time) with VisualSizer.

All parameters as entered are applied to standard equations to calculate speed, inertia and torque requirements that are being used to select the motor.

The greatest challenge, however, is that the above-mentioned equations must be applied to each motor in the database, which is the reason that simple search algorithms (e.g., SQL sentence) are not sufficient. Considering a database containing several hundreds of motors (and more), the search process can take several hours when done manually. VisualSizer provides results within minutes.

The time saving factor is the most obvious benefit of VisualSizer, but there are other advantages that have the potential of saving the end user (i.e., customers of motor manufacturers) some tremendous expenses when it comes to purchasing and operating equipment. VisualSizer selects the smallest motor that meets the requirements, and smaller motors plus their necessary equipment cost less and require less energy.

Moreover, VisualSizer provides tremendous benefits to motor manufacturers and their representatives and distributors in regard to optimized technical and sales support as well as marketing.

For instance, a sales rep can use VisualSizer to help customers develop their mechanical applications. Again, the process takes minutes rather than several hours. Alternatively, customers can send applications created by VisualSizer per email, and the sales rep can create a quotation accordingly.

The benefits for marketing (besides offering a sharp-looking free-of-charge software) are amplified when VisualSizer can be integrated into the manufacturers’ websites (and/or the websites of their reps and distributors). An online motor selection software will not only drive more traffic to the website; it will also “glue” customers to the online service, because customers go where they receive the best support.

Consequently, we at Copperhill Technologies are actively working on converting the current Windows version into a web application, running either in a web browser, iOS, or Android.

We will follow up on the development with further posts on this website. For further information, please feel free to contact us.
